2017 Aloha Tournament

  • Laura Abrishamkar took 6th place in Original Prose and Poetry and 2nd place in Original Advocacy.
  • Angelina Oh took 9th place in Congress.

2017 Nat. Quals

  • Jennifer Tang and Rithvik Rao qualified to NSDA nationals in Policy debate.
  • Michaela Allen qualified to NSDA nationals in Informative speaking.

2017 State Quals

  • Michaela Allen qualified to the state championship in Expository. She also received the SDIVSL Speaker of the Year award.
  • Laura Abrishamkar qualified to states in Original Prose and Poetry.
  • Natalia Zorrilla qualified to state championships in Lincoln-Douglas.
  • Jennifer Tang and Rithvik Rao qualified to state championships in Policy debate.
  • Christina Lin and Jessica Shen qualified to state championships in Public Forum.

2016 La Costa Canyon Winter Classic

  • Michaela Allen got 1st place in Expository and Original Oratory. She also got second place in Oratorical Interpretation. Michaela also won a bid to the Tournament of Champions in all of the mentioned events.
  • Laura Abrishamkar got 6th place in Original Prose and Poetry.
  • Jennifer Tang and Rithvik Rao won the tournament in varsity Policy and climbed to the top seed in the preliminaries. Jennifer got a 7th place speaker award while Rithvik got a 3rd place speaker award. This marked the first occasion that a CCA  team won a TOC bid in debate.
  • Boopala Arul and Julia Luo made it to semifinals in varsity Parli.
  • Edward Li made it to octafinals of varsity LD.
  • Samantha Ho and Marie Shi, alongside Aaron Tanaka and Peter Zhu, made it to octafinals of Public Forum.
  • Catherine Cang, Reva Agashe, Natalia Zorilla, and Ruchi Agashe made it to double-octas of LD.
  • Christina Lin and Jessica Shen got to double-octas of Public Forum.

2016 University of Washington Galentine Invitational

  • Jennifer Tang and Rithvik Rao made it to semis, the bid round, in Varsity Policy.

  • The first CCA-hosted tournament.

  • Jennifer Tang and Rithvik Rao got to doubles of varsity Policy.

2016 Jack Howe Invitational

  • CCA advanced to first place sweepstakes in debate and fifth place sweepstakes in speech.
  • Michaela Allen got 1st place in Expository.
  • Laura Abrishamkar got 1st place in Original Prose and Poetry.
  • George Cheng and Praneeth Kandula got to Semifinals of varsity parliamentary, and George Cheng received the ninth place speaker award.
  • Jennifer Tang and Rithvik Rao climbed to octafinals of varsity policy, and Rithvik Rao received the 10th place speaker.
  • Jessica Shen and Christina Lin got to octas of varsity public forum.
  • Nathan Parikh and Aaron Tanaka got to octas of varsity public forum.

2016 National Championships

  • Kaleolani Laymon broke to the top 60 in Dramatic Interp
  • Michaela Allen broke to the top 60 in Prose Interp
  • This marked the first time that CCA participated in speech events at nationals.

2016 Tournament of Champions

  • Michaela Allen placed 5th in Humorous Interp
  • This also marks CCA’s first time participating at the TOC, an invitation-only tournament that represents the best of high school competition.
